Take Action!
11/29/06
Dear Friends and supporters of the NCC Eco-Justice
Programs,
Today the Supreme Court is beginning to hear arguments
on a landmark case that could change the current US policy on Global
Warming. In total, twelve states, three major cities, and American
Samoa are filing suit against the EPA for not regulating emissions
from new motor vehicles, which the states claim is in direct violation
of the Clean Air Act. As people of faith, we are called to protect
all of God's creation. There is a growing consensus among faith
leaders, scientists, and government officials that global warming
is real and that creation is in jeopardy. But we have an opportunity
to save creation for future generations!
While many agree that Global Warming is a major concern, we need
action by our representatives and senators to assure that God's
creation will be preserved for future generations. Take a moment
now to show your solidarity with these states suing the EPA
and urge your lawmakers in Congress to support laws to curb
global
warming by writing a letter to the editor. Letters to the editors
are often times read by your elected officials and the public.
This is a great way for your message to get heard by people
in power. Click

letter.
The
US is the largest contributor of greenhouse gases, and as
a nation, we need to accept responsibility in addressing our
own emissions.
To ignore this issue would be unjust for a wealthy nation
blessed by God. The price of global warming falls mostly on developing
nations and low-income communities-those least responsible
for the crisis and least able to adapt to the impacts of
global
warming.
Urge your lawmakers to take leadership on behalf of both
creation and the world's poor by making laws that will reduce greenhouse
gas emissions.
We ask that you join us by submitting a letter
to the editor to your local newspaper, asking our nation's
leaders
to be held accountable for global warming. Click

guidelines,
talking points, and the space to send your own. Click

is in
our hands.
