Metropolitian Community Church in the Valley

Installing Solar Panels

"MCC in the Valley's Board of Directors voted unanimously to go green. They have adopted and signed a contract to install solar panels this summer on the roof of the Church. The church will be paying little to none in their electric usage while the Department of Power and Water will be buying our excessive electrical. Ever since MCC in the Valley made the earth
a member of its' congregation, it has taken serious the need to create a sustainable and ecologically friendly community. MCC in the Valley is the first MCC denominational church to undertake the installation of solor panels for its energy needs.   It is a major justice issue to try to respect the planet in a time when global warming threatens our planet, its species, and humanity. Chief Seattle said, "The earth does not belong to us, we belong to the earth."  Rev. Dr. Bob Shore-Goss, Senior Pastor/Theologian observed, "Ecojustice is at the heart of our Christian faith, it  requires a change of heart that leads to understanding our interbeing and interconnections with the planet and ourselves. It is way of living our faith responsibly in the 21st century. WE as a faith community are only beginning a jounrey to live responsibly."  Watch for the dedication ceremony of the solar panels this summer."
