NCC Conference Workshops

Workshop Summary

In order for participants to fully benefit from the conference and to expand their knowledge within a particular area of interest, we will be offering four diverse workshops this year.  The workshops will be an hour and a half long. They will be offered on Thursday October 9th from 3:30-5:00pm and again on Saturday, October 11th from 10:30 to noon. In this way attendees will have the oppurtunity to participate in two workshops.

Title: Toxins Scavenger Hunt
Leader: Cassandra Carmichael
In our “Toxins Household Scavenger Hunt” we’ll investigate hazardous household products in our homes, churches and communities. Take a stroll with us around the center to see just how many substances we can find.  When these products become unusable, they are referred to as Hazardous Household Waste (HHW) and must be properly disposed of so that they do not contaminate the environment or us. Let’s see what we find! Location: TBD

Title: Deeper Theological Discussion
Leader: TBD
This discussion workshop will be aimed at encouraging one another towards a deeper understanding of God's Word, particularly as it relates to protecting His creations - in all it's diverse forms. Location: TBD

Title: Advocacy & Actions
Leader: John Hill

This workshop provides you with the knowledge to move from being a concerned citizen to public advocate. Learn to talk to your church, civic group, and political representatives about the issues that are important to you, your family and your environment. Location: TBD

Title: Solutions at Home and Church
Leader: Chloe Schwabe
Toxins are easier to find in our homes, just look for most standard household cleaning products and you will likely find them. But did you know that good replacements for these dangerous cleaners are likely sitting in your home right now?  This workshop will show you how baking soda, borax, vinegar and a few other safe alternatives can keep your home clean and your church sparkling. Location: Cafeteria
