Food and Farming - The Faithful Harvest Campaign

TomatosFaith and Food

“To live, we must daily break the bread and shed the blood of creation. The point is, when we do this knowingly, lovingly, skillfully, reverently, it is a sacrament; when we do it ignorantly, greedily, clumsily, destructively, it is a desecration…in such desecration, we condemn ourselves to spiritual and moral loneliness and others to want.” Wendell Berry

The Faithful Harvest Campaign is a challenge to people of faith everywhere to regard the acts of eating and food production as sacramental. Faithful Harvest is a way of life - a new framework for making choices, it is living out a new consciousness of the importance of food in your faith life and in our society. Faithful Harvest is a groundswell to transform the U.S. food system into a food system that rights the injustices of current practices. About Our Work

The National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Programs work to strengthen the link between the food we eat and its origin on the farm. The Food and Farming campaign highlights the way crops are grown and transported, and provides information on the impacts to our environment while giving our community useful ways to celebrate and protect God's Creation.
