NCC Biennial Conference:
Eco-Justice for All: God's People, God's Planet

June 1-4, 2006
Loyola University, New Orleans, Lousiana

Pre-Conference Offerings:

  • New Orleans Impacted Communities Tour (offered by New Community Project)
  • Environmental Justice Workshop (offered by Sierra Club)
  • Volunteer Community Clean-up (Coordinated with United Methodist Committee of Relief) Wednesday, May 31, 9am-5pm
Are you interested in getting your hands dirty and using your physical presence to embody your moral support for the rebuilding of New Orleans? We will spend our day together deconstructing and gutting a home. Personal protection equipment and tools will be provided. You will need to wear work clothes (long pants and long sleeves) as well as sturdy boots. The cost of this opportunity will be minimal-- just enough to cover food or incidentals. Housing Tuesday night will be on your own (with possibility to lodge together). Please contact Rebecca Barnes-Davies for more details: prc@sfts.edu or 415-451-2826
  • Local environmental, environmental justice, and post-Katrina tour of New Orleans (Sponsored by All Congregations Together) Thursday June 1, 9am-12pm and 1-4pm (Wed night housing available at Loyola University)
We are planning a tour of New Orleans for conference participants interested in learning more about the environmental aspects of New Orleans, including the environmental injustices and the post-Katrina impact. This tour will return in time for lunch on your own before the 1pm denominational gatherings. Please contact Rebecca Barnes-Davies for more details: prc@sfts.edu or 415-451-2826.
