Environmental Justice for All:
a pre-conference workshop
(sponsored by Sierra Club)
June 1, 2006
9am-12:30pm (lunch provided)

Whether you are new to environmental justice or an established advocate, the “Environmental Justice for All" workshop promises to challenge and deepen your understanding of power relationships and impacts of environmental degradation, as well as provide practical, hands-on approaches for getting involved.

The workshop features an introduction to environmental justice, theological reflections, powerful truth-telling, and personal testimonies from community leaders who are deeply affected. Local community leaders will speak about working for justice in New Orleans after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and community leaders from around the country will share their struggles with mountaintop removal in Central Appalachia, toxic chemical emissions in Memphis, and conflicts over sacred sites and protection of groundwater in Arizona. We hope and expect that each person will leave this workshop empowered to work for change.

· Free and open to all conference participants and local residents.
· Lunch will be provided.

Extend the experience by attending the NCC Eco-Justice conference June 1 – 4, 2006, at Loyola University. For more information go to www.nccecojustice.org. Download the registration brochure.
