Chesapeake Covenant Congregations

Chesapeake covenant congregations is an ecumencial movement that seeks to encourage people of faith and churches throughout the 64,000 square miles of the Chesapeake Bay watershed to covenant together to protect this precious ecosystem. The initiative will commission and nurture a network of churches in the Chesapeake watershed to establish healing ministries for lands and waters, to revere and cherish the God's creation, and restore the ability of the Chesapeake Bay to sustain a diversity of life.

Representatives of twenty-six churches in the Baltimore-Annapolis area helped establish a vision, a structure for common action and expansion, and a flexible approach for membership that allows each congregation to write its own covenant.

The Chesapeake Covenant Congregations plan annual gatherings and educational events and coordinates the covenant congregation process. Together, this community hopes to be God's partners in the restoration of this beloved watershed.
