Adamah Congregations
Spring Adamah Challenge: Cleaning for Creation and the whole body of Christ
Lent is a season to prepare oneself and to cleanse our lives from things that take our focus off our Creator. This season, why not consider ridding your life from toxic chemicals found in cleaning products by hosting a green cleaning fellowship activity in your church? Take the challenge and download a how-to guide here.
Traditional cleaning products can harm Creation and human health. Chemicals in the waterways and the air can harm aquatic species, plants, and animals. Cleaning sprays and odors in the air can also harm our pets and our bodies. Cleaning products can damage the health of communities of color and low income communities whom are more likely to live closer to the sites where the toxic chemicals in these cleaners are produced. Health damage from cleaning products include skin, eye, and respiratory irritations, asthma, dizziness, reproductive challenges, and even cancer.

Green cleaning can also mean good financial stewardship. Most green cleaning products can be made from ingredients in your cupboard. Many toxic-free industrial products for churches or schools are cheaper, or competitive with toxic brands.
We are called to be stewards of Creation, of our bodies, and to protect and serve vulnerable populations. Why not clean and deliver justice at the same time? This season of Lent, take the Adamah challenge and host a green cleaning fellowship hour in your church or home.
This is an opportunity to learn more and witness the harm cleaning products can cause, and the redemption and glory of seeking safer alternatives. Take the Adamah challenge below by downloading the kit with a guide to planning an event, green cleaning recipes, fact sheets, and more!
