Rhode Island Earth Day Events Beneficent Congregational Church, UCC, is having an Earth Day service using the Poverty of Global Warming theme suggested by the NCC.  It will be on April 20th, at 10:30 AM.  There will be related music.  The choir is singing, "We Are Saving Noah's Cargo" to the tune of "We are Climbing Jacob's Ladder".  The words to the Noah's Cargo song are written by Fred Small.  Our Church is cooperating with Rhode Island Interfaith Power and Light in following through on their many suggestions, such as getting compact flourescent light bulbs to low income people and many other things. Approximately 50 congregations have participated on an interfaith basis in Rhode Island Interfaith Power and Light's activities, from educational presentations, to outreach and advocacy, including personally lobbying the state's congressman prior to the Leiberman-Warner debate.
