Gulf Coast Hurricane Anniversary Resources

This anniversary is a time to remember the victims of the 2005 Gulf Coast hurricanes, to celebrate and affirm our contributions to relief and recovery, to confess and acknowledge our failures, and to re-dedicate ourselves to seeking justice on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Christ. Use the following resources to engage your congregation in the ongoing efforts for recovery of the Gulf Coast. The region is still very much battered and bruised, and though it is no longer daily front page news, the injustices must not be tolerated and perpetuated by the people of God.

Through the Eye of a Hurricane: Rebuilding Just Communities worship resource - the resource describes the devastation of the Gulf Coast Region, particularly issues of environmental justice and racism, toxic contamination, and consumer lifestyles. It includes sermon notes, bulletin insert, and study questions to plan a worship service dedicated to a congregational re-dedication to seeking justice on the Gulf Coast.
