Earth Day Sunday Checklist
Discuss Earth Day Sunday ideas with your
clergy and/or the worship committee, social justice committee,
or creation care committee.
Develop the order of worship
using your congregation's worship format
Identify any special texts, prayers, liturgies,
etc. that will be used in the service
Identify guest/lay leaders who will help
lead the service
Contact your church's music director
to identify music and musicians for the service.
Promote the Earth Day service
through your congregation's newsletter, website, and bulletin as
well as through the NCC Eco-Justice Program (contact info@nccecojustice.org)
and your local newspaper.
Create bulletins with the order
of worship and any additional texts.
Be prepared to answer questions
about your Earth Day Sunday theme and Eco-Justice in general from
curious members of the congregation
Remember to ask participants to arrive
earlier than normal
