Colorado Churches
- Smokey Hill UMC hosted an Earth Celebration including:
1. special offering to pay for recycle dumpsters,
2. Unveiling of cloth bags for grocery shopping --logo- "God made it green, let's keep it green - Smoky Hill United Methodist Church" to be sold by Church and Society group
3. A 500 plastic sack monster creation for sermon image (average number used per person in US although I think it is low when I consider how many bread, fruit, etc bags I receive each week) to be part of worship decor.
4. And environmental focused sermon on "His eye is on the sparrow...and I know he's watching me." with
5. a plastic sack fast invitation
- First Universalist Church is hosting their 2nd Annual Our Earth Fair on June 14th.The hours of the fair are 10-3 in Magna Carta Park, just north of First Universalist Church at 4101 E. Hampden Avenue. An organic lunch for a modest cost is available from 11:30-12:30. In the spirit of Earth Day, and through the generosity of its sponsors, this event is free for the whole family! Earth Fair will feature more than 25 onsite sustainable-living exhibitors, information on renewable energy and a vegetarian lunch. Solsource, a solar company, is offering a special $3,000 DISCOUNT ON 3kW system (SHARP system using the SRS racking system) solar panels to Earth Fair attendees. The offer would be good until the end of July. Additional highlights of the day will include environment displays and demonstrations, interactive and educational booths by many local environmental non-profit and small business groups, performances by local musicians, and a Kids’ Zone for children.
