Florida Churches First United Church (UCC) has organized the Tampa Bay Global Warming Emergency Council which has been meeting monthly since January, 2008. This interfaith gathering combines education about global warming and action at every meeting. In April we hosted an Interfaith Forum on Global Warming and Call to Action with a panel of Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Unitarian leaders. On four different occasions we coordinated with FUSE (Faiths United for Sustainable Energy) and the Southern Association for Clean Energy (SACE) to send hundreds of timely post cards and faxes that contributed to passing legislation making Florida a leader on clean energy. This month, June, the Florida Coordinator for SACE will describe this victory, and what actions are needed to make sure it is implemented. More information at www.ucctampabay.org
